The Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has kick started direct admission to its PhD programme from Tuesday.
Students would get the opportunity to pursue their PhD programmes in 13 different various areas of research.
Issuing the admission notification on its official website the university notified that "The last date for receipt of completed Application Form along with all documents is 30/01/2015."
Though the seats will be offered to a limited number of candidates directly to Ph.D. programme either on the basis of viva-voce or on the written examination and viva-voce. The students this time will be able to fill application form in HIndi also where writing the name of mother is mandatory.
Students will be offered admission various areas of research which are : School of International Studies, School of Social Sciences, School of Language, Literature and Culture Studies, School of Computer & Systems Sciences, School of Physical Sciences, School of Environmental Sciences, School of Life Sciences, School of Arts and Aesthetics, School of Computational and Integrative Sciences, School of Biotechnology, Centre for the Study of Law & Governance, Centre for Molecular Medicine and Centre for Sanskrit Studies.
Eligibility Criteria :
Candidates are requested to refer to the eligibility requirements for direct admission to Ph.D. programme for each School/Special Centre in the "Instructions for completing the Application Form" which are available on JNU website along with this Application Form.Please Note that the applications of the candidates whose M.Phil/M.Tech./Pre-Ph.D./MPH results are not available will not be considered under any circumstances. Hence, the applications of only those candidates can be considered whose results are indicated/available in the application form.
How to Apply :
Application Forms along with eligibility requirements and Instructions for completing the Application Form can be dowloaded from the website of the University (www.jnu.ac.in) and submitted to the Section Officer (Admissions), Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi - 110067 duly filled in all respects enclosing therewith the required documents and a Demand Draft of the required amount drawn in favour of "Jawaharlal Nehru University" payable at New Delhi as detailed in the Instructions for completing the Application Form.

However, admission in Winter Semester will be need based and subject to availability of seats in each area of research. Interested candidates are therefore required to enquire about the availablity of seats in the discipline for which they intend to apply for direct admission to Ph.D. programme before submitting Application Forms for admission in Winter Semester beginning January, 2016.
The Application Forms for Winter Semester beginning January 2016 will be available from 1st September to 15th October, 2015 and last date for submitting the Application Forms will be 15th October 2015.
