Delhi Technological University to offer more electives
In its new session starting on Saturday, Delhi Technological University (DTU) is taking a flexible approach by offering a large number of electives in its curricula, aimed at "broadening" the choice net for its students.

A DTU functionary said the number of electives being offered to the students has gone up to eight from last year's one, while grading system has also been introduced as part of the university's steps to revamp and strengthen its syallbi.

"Earlier, students could opt for one elective in the final year but this year onwards they will have the choice of taking up electives from third year itself. Total eight electives are being offered, distributed over three semesters in third and final year.

"Apart from that, DTU has taken a number of initiatives in restructuring and strengthening its academic programs by revising and strengthening its curriculum, introduction of grading system to be introduced this academic year," Associate Professor S Indu said.

Nearly 1,547 students have taken admission in the undergraduate-level based on their JEE (mains) ranks and 70 NRI's via SAT exam. DTU also offers M Tech, MBA and PHDs.

"The University offers 22 M Tech programs and around 400 students have already admitted upto third round through the GATE test. 70 students have been admitted upto the third round for admission to the MBA program based on their CAT scores," she said.

The new curriculum structure lays emphasis on developing analytical and professional skills and includes the right combinations of foundation courses, university electives and departmental electives which will help better placement records, a spokesperson said.
