The UPSC Civil Services 2021 preliminary examinations will now be held on October 10, 2021. The official notification reads, "Due to the prevailing conditions caused by the Novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), the Union Public Service Commission has deferred the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2021, which was scheduled to be held on 27th June 2021. Now, this Examination will be held on 10th October 2021."
The decision has been taken in view of the pandemic situation caused by the coronavirus across the country. The applications were invited by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) to fill up 712 vacancies in the organisation through Civil Services Exam, 2021. The commission conducts civil services examination annually in three stages;
(i) Preliminary Exam,
(ii) Main Exam, and
(iii) Interview
Successful candidates will be appointed as officers of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and Indian Police Service (IPS) among others across the country.

UPSC Civil Services Prelims 2021 Exam Pattern
The UPSC Civil Services preliminary examination consists of two papers; General Studies I & General Studies II (CSAT). The paper consists of multiple objective type questions known as MCQs. Candidates will get 2 hours for each paper - I & II. There will be a negative marking also.
