A reduction of 30% in the syllabus for students appearing in JKBOSE Class 10th and Class 12th exams in this academic year has been announced by the Jammu and Kashmir administration.

The Principal Secretary, School Education Department, J&K, Asgar Hassan Samoon announced the syllabus reduction on his Twitter handle.

“Syllabus for 10+2 reduced to 70 per cent in JK UT. This also applies for 10th class syllabus for exams,” he said.
After CBSE, ICSE and many other state education boards, JKBOSE is the most recent Board to have reduced the syllabus.

JKBOSE officials have also recommended the Administrative Council to provide an option to the Board students to attempt only 60 to 70 per cent of the Board exam question papers this year.  “The decision will definitely help students to a great extent as the closure of schools due to extended lockdowns has affected their studies,” said a senior JKBOSE official as informed by a local daily.

“New Education Policy 2020, for higher education at doorsteps of 10+2 students, the existing 777 higher secondary schools need to be upgraded to degree colleges by adding additional classrooms/libraries/ labs in these higher secondary schools immediately”, the principal secretary also mentioned on his social media account. Also the JKSCERT would soon be established to improve quality of education and for curriculum reforms and teacher education in the UT, as per the secretary.
