Madras High Court has ordered notice to the Chairman of the Tamil Nadu Teachers Recruitment Board and School Education Secretary on a petition seeking to quash a Government Order giving weightage for marks secured in academic studies to candidates for the recruitment of secondary grade teachers/BT Assistants.
The Madurai Bench of Justice K Ravichandrabaabu, hearing a batch of petitions, directed the officials to give their explanation to the grounds raised within two weeks.
The petitioners said the TRB should take into consideration only the marks scored in the Teachers Eligibility Test (TET).
If they adopt any other parameter like marks scored in the Plus Two and undergraduate examinations, it would mean the selection process was not fair.
Taking into consideration marks obtained in Plus Two and degree was arbitrary, irrational and against the concept of equality, they said.
He also sought an interim stay on the G.O.issued on October 5, 2012.
