Amid the lockdown and coronavirus pandemic, IIT Delhi has commenced the admission process for candidates who have qualified the GATE examination. The interviews and the counselling process was postponed due to the ongoing epidemic disease. 

The candidates who have qualified the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering are eligible to appear for the counselling for PG admissions in various IITs across India. The examination for the GATE 2020 was conducted on February 1, 2, 8 and 9, 2020. The result for the same was declared on March 13, 2020. A total of 1.3 lakh candidates have passed the exam with flying colours this year.

Candidate with a valid GATE scorecard is eligible to apply for the admissions in the premier institutes of IIT and engineering across the country. Eligible candidates will have to appear for the PG counselling via video conferencing. The GATE 2020 admission form is available on the Common Offers Acceptance Portal, COAPs apart from the respective institute’s website.

Candidates should note that IIT Kanpur will close the applications on May 4, 2020. While the IIT Goa, IIT Delhi etc will conclude the application process till May 10, 2020

Hitesh Popli has topped the GATE 2020 exam in Computer Science. As per the list released by IIT Delhi, Sachin Singh Naruka has topped Chemistry with 86.67 percentile, Aerospace engineering has been topped by Bharath Kumar K, Civil engineering has been topped by Ajay Singhal with 90.77% and Biomedical engineering which has been a new addition has been topped by Ganesh Shiavajirao Kulkarni.
