The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is planning to set up centres for conducting practicals of class X and XII. This will be similar to the centres of Board exams of class X and XII.

According to the board, this will increase transparency in practical exams and will help in developing a competitive approach among students.

In this regard, the board had asked reports from 97 schools on the capacity of the labs present in their schools, equipment and the number of teachers. Schools have submitted their reports to the board for the same.

Till now the practicals were conducted in the concerned school itself, but now onwards board is planning to conduct practicals at another centre. The examination for Theory and Practicals will be held at a single centre. The Board is planning to implement the new rules from the academic session 2019-2020.

The board is considering this because there is a lack of laboratory and adequate means to conduct practicals in some schools. Along with this, the marking scheme of practical can also be changed. Admit cards will also be provided for practicals.

According to the school management, the new system will ruin the education system of schools. The labs and equipment are available according to the ability of children in schools. If any school will be chosen as a centre for practical then it will be challenged to conduct it with limited resources.
