UPSC IES Recruitment 2022: Details

Through this recruitment examination, the Union Public Service Commission aims to fill a total of 53 vacancies. This includes 24 vacant posts of Indian Economic Service (IES) and 29 vacancies of Indian Statistical Service (ISS).

The selection process includes a written examination carrying 1000 marks, followed by a personality test round consisting of 200 marks. Candidates who clear both the rounds will be recruited to the aforesaid posts.

UPSC IES/ISS 2022: Exam pattern

The pattern of UPSC IES and ISS 2022 recruitment examination has been provided below for candidates' reference.

UPSC IES 2022: Exam pattern
 
The UPSC IES 2022 Exam will consist of 6 papers, namely;
  1. General English
  2. General Studies
  3.  General Economics I
  4. General Economics II
  5. General Economics III
  6. Indian Economics.
The duration of each paper will be three hours. The maximum marks awarded in the General English and General Studies section are 100, while the same for the other sections has been fixed as 200.

UPSC ISS 2022: Exam pattern

Total number of papers in the UPSC ISS 2022 exam are 6, which are, namely;
  1. General English
  2. General Studies
  3. Statistics I
  4. Statistics II
  5. Statistics III
  6. Statistics IV
The General English, General Studies, Statistics III and Statistics IV papers will last for a duration of 3 hours each, while 2 hours each will be provided for the remaining papers. The Statistics I and Statistics II papers will comprise objective type questions, while the Statistics III and Statistics IV paper will contain descriptive type questions.
 
Also, the General English as well as the General Studies section, common to both IES and ISS exams, will be of the subjective type.

Medium of examination: The question paper will be set in English, hence it will have to be answered in English only.

Exam mode: The paper will be held in the pen-paper mode.
