For the first time in the history of IIT, students are getting the opportunity to participate in JEE Advanced-2021 for the third time. Due to COVID-19, the Joint Admission Board has announced that the students who were not able to appear for JEE Advanced 2020 exam along with the change in the admission rules for qualified candidates for one year. Such students will get a chance to sit again in JEE Advanced-2021.
 
However, this facility will be available only to the students who registered in JEE Advanced -2020, but could not participate in the examination for some reason.
The Joint Admission Board meeting held on Tuesday was attended by senior officials of the Union Ministry of Education, directors of all IITs, officials of the National Testing Agency, UGC, and AICTE.
This special meeting of the Joint Admission Board was called on the demand of the students, in which it was proposed to give an additional opportunity in JEE Advanced 2021.
 
In this meeting, students who got successful for JEE Advanced 2020 from JEE Mains 2020, but could not take the exam due to Containment Zone, Kovid-19 Positive or for any other reason, were given another chance in JEE Advanced 2021 Has been decided Successful students who do not register in JEE Advanced 2020 will not get this benefit.
 
However, this additional third opportunity is being given to students of the same year only due to COVID-19.
 
According to IIT management, more than five thousand students will benefit from this decision. In fact, out of the JEE Mains -2020, the top 2.50 lakh students qualified for JEE Advanced. However, out of that only 1,60,864 students had registered.
 
Out of this, only 1,55, 551 students took the exam. Those students who had registered for the advanced portal but did not pay the fees will also be eligible for this new decision
