West Bengal New Covid Restrictions: The West Bengal government has extended the Covid curbs in the state, as a result of which, offline classes will remain paused in educational institutions of the state till January 31. Administration personnel at all the educational institutions of the state have been directed to operate at 50% capacity, PTI reported.
A statement from the official notice released by the West Bengal government read, "Physical classes in all Educational Institutions including schools, universities and colleges have been suspended till January 31. Only the administrative activities will stay in force across the state in educational institutions. The administrative activities will operate at 50% capacity as a precautionary measure."
West Bengal New Covid Guidelines:
West Bengal government has given nod to public celebrations and occassions such as fairs, marriage functions etc, but by limiting the attendance of people. While fairs are permitted on open grounds in Bengal with adherence to Covid-appropriate behavior, a limit of 200 people has been fixed for attending marriage functions and ceremonies.
In addition to this, the West Bengal government has also clamped down on public and vehicle movement from 10 pm till 5 am. Essential services like law, order, health and transport of essential commodities and essential services have been exempted from this restriction, as reported by the PTI.
Notably, the West Bengal government had issued orders on January 3, 2022 to shut down all the educational institutions in the state, in wake of rapid transmissibility of Covid-19 cases. 50% workforce had been permitted to function at other offices of the state.
