The examination for the Karnataka SSLC 2020 has been postponed due to coronavirus.
The announcement was made by Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa regarding the postpone of the exams in order to ensure the safety of the candidates and avoiding a big gathering.
The revised dates would be announced on the official website in the month of April 2020.
Earlier the Karnataka SSLC 2020 Exams were scheduled to be conducted from March 27 to April 9, 2020. Around 8 lakh students registered for the Karnataka SSLC or Class 10 examinations in the state. At first, the department had initially decided to let the examinations continue with necessary precautions like provided masks and sanitizers. However, considering the increasing number of cases, the decision has been taken to postpone the exams.
Apart from postponing the exams, the Karnataka Government has also taken other measures to prevent Coronavirus.
- Postponing the Karnataka SSLC exams until further notice
- Closing all State borders to contain further spread
- Victoria Hospital in Bangalore with a capacity of 1700 bed would be dedicated to as a COVID19 Hospital in the state
- The state would also take steps to get permission to test Covid19 in more Government and Private hospitals with cooperation from ICMR and NIV.
- Increase the number of Lab Tests in the state
- Screening of all Domestic Air Passengers at the airport in the state
- Postponing all elections - scheduled or planned
- A War Room to be set up at the Government Guest House Balabrooie - the 24/7 War Room would be lead by the Chief Minister
- The ration of the next two months to be provided in advance
- An adviser and request to the people of the state to refrain from visiting their villages during the period of lockdown
