Assam Police Constable Recruitment 2022: The Assam Police on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, informed about the schedule of the written examination for Police Constable Recruitment drive 2022, stating that the examination will be held as per the decided schedule on February 20, 2022. An Assam Police spokesperson stated that the exam slated for February 20, 2022 has not been deferred. He added that although there are more candidates showing up for the exam, the date of exam will remain unchanged.
The State Level Police Recruitment Board (SLPRB) is conducting the said recruitment drive. Assam Police had issued a press statement on Sunday, which said that the SLPRB declared the results of the examination conducted for 9171 constable posts, during which, it was ascertained that the actual number of people called for the written exam has fallen much below the ratio of 1:5 announced in the original advertisement.
Acting on the matter, the SLPRB has reviewed the situation and has hence called for an additional number of candidates to appear in the examination. Therefore, the candidate turnout of 1:5 will be ensured in all categories of posts. SLPRB further said that the new merit list with the names of additional candidates included will be released shortly.
The first advertisement for the posts was released on April 25, 2018 and its addendum also appeared on December 19, 2019. On January 19, 2022, SLPRB had issued a notice announcing the results of Physical Standard Test (PST) and Physical Efficiency Test (PET). Thereafter, it had directed the candidates to check their status on the official website and then apply for the Common Written Test on January 30, if they had qualified the Physical tests.
Following this, some candidates who had failed to qualify the Physical tests had staged protests in front of Police force headquarters. They had alleged that the system adopted for the Physical tests was not transparent. However, DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta had refuted such allegations, by stating that the code of conduct of PST and PET was quite clear and transparent.
