A total of six Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru are among 12 Indian institutes that have made it to the top 500 universities in the QS Graduate Employment Rankings 2022, announced on Thursday. IIT Bombay tops the ranking among Indian institutions. While three central universities – University of Delhi, University of Mumbai, and the University of Calcutta have also made it to the list, private universities in the list include OP Jindal Global University, Sonepat, and BITS Pilani, Rajasthan.
Six IITs makes a place on the list
Among the six IITs ranked among the top 500 universities in the QS Graduate Employment Rankings 2022, IIT Bombay is ranked 101-110. It is followed by IIT Delhi (131-40), IIT Madras (151-60), IIT Kharagpur (201-50), IIT Kanpur (251-300), and IIT Roorkee (500).

At the same time, Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani, and the University of Mumbai are ranked between 251-300, among other best institutes to find place in the QS Graduate Employment Ranking 2022 among the top 500 universities. Whereas, IISc, Bengaluru, and OP Jindal Global University have been placed in the 301-500 category.

As the world recovers from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, London-based Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) said in a note on its website, the importance of graduating with the skills and qualities needed by modern employers has arguably never been greater. Each ranked university has demonstrated the ability to produce graduates with the 'soft skills' needed for the modern workplace.
To determine these employability rankings of higher education institutions around the world, QS considers how prestigious the institutions are among employers. QS considered the following indicators and weights to calculate the GER 2022 score – Employer Reputation (30 percent), Alumni Outcomes (25 percent), Participation with Employers per Faculty (25 percent), Employer-Student Connection (10 percent) and graduate employment rate (10 percent).
