Climate change has become India's most serious problem, but no concrete steps are being taken in this direction. Climate change is not only the problem of our country but also for the world.
This issue is drawing so much attention these days because of a Swedish student Gretta Thunberg.
Gretta Thunberg is concerned about Climate change. She has started the school students strike campaign to prevent Climate change.
Greta has also sent a video message to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in February and appealed to take concrete steps in this direction. She has also given warning to all the prominent leaders of the world including Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi.
Who is Greta Thunberg?
Last year, sixteen-year-old Swedish student Greta Thunberg staged a sit-in outside the Swedish Parliament on the issue of climate change. She drew the attention of his elected public representatives to climate change and warned them for future disasters. Not only this, on the call of Greta, in March this year, school students from about 1500 cities in about 105 countries took a collective strike to save the environment. It also included students from Indian cities. These students are spreading awareness around the world at such a young age to save the environment.
Greta spoke at the Climate Change Conference of the United Nations in December last year and at the World Economic Forum in Davos this year.
For all these efforts and campaigns, Greta has also been nominated for the Nobel Prize this year. She is the youngest contender for this so far.
What is Climate Change?
Climate change occurs when changes in Earth's climate system result in new weather patterns that remain in place for an extended period of time. This length of time can be as short as a few decades to as long as millions of years.
The term "climate change" is often used to refer specifically to anthropogenic climate change (also known as global warming). Anthropogenic climate change is caused by human activity, as opposed to changes in climate that may have resulted as part of Earth's natural processes.
Human activities can also change the climate, and are presently driving climate change through global warming. There is no general agreement in scientific, media, or policy documents as to the precise term to be used to refer to anthropogenically forced change; either "global warming" or "climate change" may be used.
