AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday took oath as the seventh Chief Minster of Delhi.
Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung administered the oath of office and secrecy to Mr. Kejriwal and six other ministers at the Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi.
Six ministers -- Manish Sisodia, Somnath Bharti, Rakhi Birla, Satyendra Jain, Saurabh Bharadwaj, Girish Soni -- also took oath of office and secrecy at the ceremony.
After the ceremony, Mr. Kejriwal would visit Mahatma Gandhi’s memorial Rajghat to pay homage
Earlier, the AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday boarded the metro from Kaushambi Station in New Delhi to take oath as Delhi Chief Minister at the Ramlila Maidan as hundreds of people jostled with each other to board the train with him.
There was no place to stand in the Metro premises and people were falling over each other as Mr. Kejriwal arrived to board the train. The AAP leader will get off the train at Rajiv Chowk Metro Station from he will take another metro to reach Ramlila Maidan.
Additional CISF security personnel and Uttar Pradesh personnel were deployed at the station.
CISF officials had earlier said that some of its personnel will also travel in the coach with Mr. Kejriwal to guard him.
Security tightened in Kausambi station
Security was on Saturday beefed up at the Kausambi Metro Station in view of AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal’s decision to take the metro to Ramlila Maidan from here to take oath as the Delhi Chief Minister.
Mr. Kejriwal along with Manish Sisodia and other AAP supporters will take the train from Kausambi Metro Station around 11 a.m.
Additional security personnel from CISF have been deployed at the station. Besides, Uttar Pradesh Police personnel have also been deployed around Kausambi Metro Station.
“Security has been beefed up at the station. We are maintaining a high vigil ahead of Kejriwal’s visit at station,” said an official of CISF, who didn’t wish to be named.
High-level meetings are going on in which CISF are constantly reviewing arrangements at the station.
The CISF official said that some of its personnel will also travel in the same coach in which Kejriwal will be travelling in order to guard him.
Mr. Kejriwal will get off the train at Rajiv Chowk Metro station from he will take the Barakambha-bound metro.
A large number of people have gathered at the Kausambi Metro station to see Mr. Kejriwal.
Mr. Kejriwal had said on Friday that he will take the metro to Ramlila Maidan to take oath as the Delhi Chief Minister.
