- The lunar eclipse sometimes also known as "blood moon" will be visible on 26th May 2021.
- Super Blood Moon in which the moon turns completely red due to the light filtered through all the sunrises and sunsets on Earth.
- It occurs when the Earth comes between the sun and the moon, blocking the sun rays from reaching the moon directly.
- The lunar eclipse is taking place for the first time since January 21, 2019.
- It will be visible from some parts of the Pacific, the Atlantic, and the Indian ocean.
NHA signs MoU with Telangana |
- National Health Authority (NHA) has signed a pact with the Telangana government to implement Ayushman Bharat Scheme.
- NHA is amenable to implement public health insurance scheme called Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY).
- The Telangana government has also linked the Ayushman Bharat Scheme with the state scheme “Aarogyasri’.
- The Central Government launched AB-PMJAY scheme to provide free access to healthcare to 50 crore people in India.
- Under the scheme, beneficiaries get free healthcare coverage of up to Rs 5 lakhs per family per year.
74th World Health Assembly |
- The 74th World Health Assembly was held virtually under the chairmanship of Dr Harsh Vardhan on May 24.
- He is the Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare and Chairman of the WHO Executive Board.
- The Director-General of the World Health Organisation, Dr Tedros, also participated in the assembly.
- Board recommended 74th World Health Assembly to consider reports on mental health preparedness and response for COVID-19 pandemic.
Microsoft to Retire Internet Explorer |
- Recently, Microsoft has announced to retire the Internet Explorer web browser on June 15, next year.
- The Internet Explorer was launched in 1995 and was the dominant browser on Windows PCs for years.
- The Internet Explorer 11 desktop application has been replaced by the Microsoft Edge.
- Microsoft earlier in 2015 replaced Internet Explorer with Microsoft Edge with IE mode.
- Microsoft Edge is built on Chromium project and it is more secure, faster, and modern.
- IPS officer, Subodh Jaiswal has been appointed Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
- The selection was made by a high-powered committee which includes Chief Justice of India (CJI) NV Ramana and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury.
- The committee was led by the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi.
- Subodh Jaiswal along with KR Chandra and VS Kaumudi, three were shortlisted out of 109 officers for the top post.
- Shri Subodh Kumar Jaiswal, IPS (MH: 1985), appointed as CBI Director for a period of 2 years from the date of assumption of charge.
