The University Grants Commission - National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) and Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) entrance exam have been postponed in some centres in Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal due to cyclone Jawad. The National Testing Agency has given this information by issuing a notice on its official website. The notice read that the UGC-NET 2020 and June 2021 examinations will be rescheduled for the centres of Puri, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Berhampur in Visakhapatnam and Ganjam districts of Andhra Pradesh and Gunupur in Raigad district of Odisha.

The depression over the Bay of Bengal intensified into Cyclone Jawad on Friday. The India Meteorological Department said that the weather system is likely to reach the west-central Bay of Bengal from north Andhra Pradesh-south Odisha coasts by Saturday morning. Then, the storm is very likely to move north-northeastwards and move along the Odisha coast, approaching Puri around Sunday afternoon. Thereafter, it is very likely to move north-eastwards towards the West Bengal coast along the Odisha coast.

The examination for admission to the IIFT MBA course has been postponed in Kolkata and Durgapur in West Bengal, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Sambalpur in Odisha, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam centres in Andhra Pradesh. NTA said that the date of examination of the candidates seeking admission in the examination centres of the mentioned cities will be announced later. 

However, candidates are advised to note that the postponement is applicable to the mentioned cities only and the exam will be conducted as per schedule in all other cities of Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal and other states.
