The School of Humanities at Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has introduced two new courses for the students who would be enrolling in the current academic year. Notably, the university has launched the Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Sanskrit (BASKH) and Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Urdu (BAUDH) courses, which will be offered to the students starting from the January 2022 admission session.
During the launch of the sessions, Vice chancellor of IGNOU, Nageshwar Rao stated that numerous Urdu words are used by all of us in our day to day lives and the amalgamation of languages imparts uniqueness to our culture.
Applicants desirous of pursuing the aforesaid courses from the university can log on to the IGNOU admission portal at ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in and can register themselves for the respective academic programmes.
Recently, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and IGNOU had signed an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) to connect vocational education and training with higher education. The agreement is aimed at creating avenues for work opportunities for the country's youth and strengthening the vocational and technical training framework. According to an official statement, approximately 32 NSTIs, 3000 ITIs, 500 PMKKs and 300 JSS will be associated with the varsity as examination, work and registration centres.
The responsibility of reviewing and monitoring the progress of the program will be that of the steering committee. The committee will rope in representatives from both sides- from the varsity, as well as from the skill ministry. The memorandum of understanding has been signed for a period of 10 years and shall be renewed on mutual agreement.
