The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has rolled out the MA (Master's) study programme in Journalism and Mass Communication studies (MAJMC), which is all set to commence from January 2022. The most unique thing about this course is that it is being offered in the online mode.
Vice-chancellor of IGNOU, Nageshwar Rao, led the launching ceremony of the said study programme and informed that the medium of instruction for the programme is being set for Hindi and other regional languages as well. He continued by saying that the duration of the course is two years and has been offered by the school of Journalism and New Media studies at IGNOU.
He went on to inform that the online conducted Master's Degree in Journalism and Mass Communication is aimed at developing skilled human resources in the field of Media and communication.The programme will enable the learner to hone his/her professional skills and build competencies, while simultaneously availing lucrative job opportunities in various media sectors. It will also open doors of opportunities for people who are already employed in media organisations without formal training, so that they can ramp up their knowledge and competency level.
Eligibility Criteria for the course:
Candidates desirous of enrolling into the course must hold a bachelor's degree in any discipline, in order to apply for the course. They must also possess basic knowledge of computers, internet and MS Word to facilitate smooth communication through emails.
