UPSC Civil Services Prelims Exams, to be conducted in June 2017
The UPSC has decided to conduct the Civil Services Preliminary Examination, in the month of August instead of June, from the next year, i.e., 2017.

This is happening after a gap of three years, that exams are again conducted in the the month of June.

The coveted examination conducted to select candidates for Indian administrative service (IAS),Indian Police service (IPS), Indian Foreign service (IFS), among others, would be held on 18 June, according to the commissions calender for the examination.

Earlier, in the year 2014, 2015 and 2016 preliminary exams were held during the month of August,  and in the year 2013 exam took place in the month of May, according to a senior UPSC official.

As per the official, the decision has been taken to ensure that the entire process of the examination is completed in time.

The UPSC Civil Services Examination is the most reputed and highest level competitive examination held in India to select officers for the top jobs in the administration of the Union Government of India and the States Governments.

Civil Services Examination is organised every year by the UPSC. The examination is conducted in three stages, Preliminary examination, followed by Main examination and is concluded with the Personal interview.
