Railway recruitment exams will henceforth will be online.
An instruction to this effect was on Thursday given by Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu who said the current manual system has failed to inspire confidence among the candidates, the public and quite often even among officials associated with the process.
The Minister has asked the concerned officials to implement the on-line method in a time-bound manner with adequate checks and balance.
"Though efforts have been made to improve the recruitment process, it still lacks to inculcate an unfaltered range of confidence among the candidates, the public and quite often even among the officials associated with the process," according to Prabhu.

Currently, Railway Recruitment Boards and Railway Recruitment Cells conduct written examination manually where propsective candidates answer questions on papers.
"Many times, examinations have to be scrapped due to the leakage of question papers," said a senior Railway Ministry official adding "that is why the minister wanted to conduct the entire recruitment exercise including examination on-line." Railways recruit a substantial number of staff every year through RRBs and RRCs.
