The Haryana Government has taken a step to change the rules for the Haryana Civil Service Exams. The government has confirmed the amendment done in the Haryana Civil Services (Executive Branch) Rules, 2008. 

According to a release, the revised pattern would be based on the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).

The Haryana government mentioned in a release on July 22, 2020 "The new rules will be called Haryana Civil Services (Executive Branch) Amendment Rules, 2020".  


Now there would be two papers of 100 marks each which would be objective type as they are in UPSC Civil Services Exams, as per the amendment. The first exam paper would be of multiple-choice questions and would be referred to as Preliminary Recruitment to the state civil services. The preliminary exam would consist of 2 papers. 

The preliminary paper would be divided into two parts- one for testing the knowledge of general awareness of the candidate and the other testing his intelligence through logical reasoning, quantitative aptitude and English comprehensions. These papers would be 100 marks each.

As for the second exam, it would be called the Mains Exam and would be subjective. The candidates would be allowed to appear once they clear the preliminary exam, in this exam. The students would be required to appear in an interview or personality test once they clear the Mains Exam and the marking would be done including their score in the personality test and the Mains exam together.
