CBSE Asked Schools to Use Only NCERT Books
Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has notified all schools affiliated to CBSE to not to force students and parents to buy textbooks of publications other than NCERT/CBSE.

CBSE said in it's circular that in spite of many directions from the Board, it has been found that some of the schools affiliated to CBSE still force children and their parents to buy textbooks other than NCERT/CBSE textbooks as is evident from the complaints received in the Board.

CBSE further stated that prescribing of too many textbooks and coercing parents and children to buy them is unhealthy practice that is educationally unsound, specially since NCERT textual materials are the base for preparing test items in the Board Examinations and the Question Paper of CBSE is set according to prescribed syllabus of the subject.

According to CBSE, NCERT is running its own sales counters at Ajmer, Bhopal, Shilong, Bhubaneswar, Mysore,Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Guwahati and New Delhi for catering to the needs of individuals and schools.

It informed school affiliated to CBSE that they can procure their requirement of NCERT text books in bulk from all the Centres mentioned above.

CBSE also informed that the books published by the NCERT for classes I to XII are available free of cost at epathshala.nic.in and the publication by CBSE are available free of cost at ecbse portal at www.cbse.nic.in . Schools may share this information with the students and parents so as to let them avail the benefits of this facility.

CBSE requested schools to do not force parents to buy additional textbooks and follow the guidelines laid down by the Board in this regard.
