CBSE Likely to Extend Affiliation Period of Schools

Amid the COVID-19 outbreak and the extension of lockdown, the education system in India has got very much affected. The academic session, examination and educational programmes have been got stricken. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the largest Board of the country has also postponed its CBSE Board Exams 2020 due to the novel coronavirus pandemic. Now it has been expected CBSE is likely to extend affiliations rules and the period by one year. However, there is no official confirmation has been made by the Board yet.

CBSE grant affiliations to schools to conduct the academic activities as per the norms of CBSE on the behalf of MHRD. As per the norms, CBSE provides the affiliations to Public School, Central School and Army School for three or five years. The period can be further extended for a long time as per the Board guidelines.

Before the end of the affiliation period, schools reapply for extension of affiliation tenure. Earlier, the last date of extended affiliation of schools was March 31, 2020. Later the date was further extended till April 20, 2020, due to lockdown.

CBSE Affiliation Procedure:

School can apply online by submitting the application fees with NOC of District Education Officer on behalf of State Education Authority, Fire Department, Jal Nigam and the list of trained teacher and principal.

The CBSE board has set a target to release the results in May 2020. The CBSE Dehradun Region has set up around 150 nodal centres for the evaluation of the answer sheets. Also, the separate teams have been formed by the Board to monitor these centres.

Twice Examination Process 

As per the media reports, 900 head examiners have been appointed for all 150 centres. All the teachers have been instructed that if there will be a single mistake, the Board will charge the penalty taken directly against them. All-city coordinators have also been alerted. After the examination of the copy by the examiner, the head examiner is re-checking it.
