The importance of government job in our country holds a separate place. This profession is the most attractive and highly demandable due to social reputation, hassle-free life and job security. It has been seen that the first priority of most of the students after class 12th is government jobs. There are many government jobs available after class 12th for the students of any stream. There are many posts available in the departments such as defence, banking and railways for class 12 pass-outs.

However, it is not easy to get a government job in India as millions of students appear for the competitive entrance exam held for these posts. A student must have to qualify the competitive exam first to become eligible for the government job.

1. National Defence Academy (NDA)

The defence sector of India consists of three wings, namely the Indian Army, Indian Air Force and Indian Navy. Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the NDA & NA exam twice in a year for entry to Defence Forces like Army, Navy and Air Force. Candidates from any stream can join the Indian Army after 10+2. While physics and mathematics are required at a 10+2 level for the Indian Navy and the Indian Air Force.

2. Indian Army 

The Join Indian Army is the authority which conducts competitive exam for the posts such as technical entry scheme (TES) and soldiers (only male), Mahila constables (general duty), junior commissioned officers (catering). A candidate must have qualified class 12th to appear for the exam.

3. Indian Navy

The Join Indian Navy is the authority which conducts competitive exam for the posts of the Sailor, Cadet entry in technical diploma and Senior Secondary Recruits (SSR) as well as artificer apprentice after class 12th.

4. Indian Coast Guard

The Join Indian Coast Guard conducts the competitive exam for the posts of Navik (sailors) and Yantrik (technicians), Assistant Commandants and Airmen in IAF. A candidate must have qualified class 12th to appear for the exam.

5. SSC Multi Tasking Staff (MTS)

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts MTS examination for candidates of all stream. A candidate can appear for the Multi Tasking Staff competitive exam after class 12th. Through this exam, candidates will be recruited as supporting staff at various ministries and government departments.

6. SSC Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL)

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is the authority who conducts the Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL) exam annually. A competitive exam is held to recruit candidates for the positions of lower division clerks and data entry operators. Candidates from any stream can appear for the SSC CHSL examination after class 12th.


7. SSC Stenographer Grade C & Grade D

SSC conducts the Stenographer exam for recruitment to Grade C & Grade D posts at various ministries and government departments. Candidates from any stream can appear for the competitive examination after class 12th.

8. Railway Recruitment Board (RRB)

The Railway Recruitment Board also conducts various competitive exams for recruitment to Group D posts. The RRB exam held for the posts of Pointsman, Porter, Helper etc. Candidates from any stream can appear for the competitive examination after class 12th.

9. State Government Exam

Many states conduct competitive exams for recruitment to various posts in state government after class 12th. These posts can be for Multi Tasking Staff or Stenographer etc. 

10. Security Forces

Various security forces like the Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBP), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) conducts recruitment examination for candidates who have qualified class 12th.
