The University Grants Commission (UGC) on Friday has announced to provide a Scholarship named 'Ishan Uday' to 10,000 students.
Under this scheme 10,000 scholarships would be provided to students from the Northeast, whose parental income is below Rs 4.5 lakh per annum and they would be provided scholarship ranging from Rs 3,500 to 5,000 per month for studying at undergraduate level in colleges and universities of the country.
The scheme has been initiated to encourage Higher Education in the Northeast. Students who have passed Class 12th or equivalent exam may apply for this scheme.
The online application will be done only through the official website of UGC.
The scholarships amount under the scheme range from Rs. 3,500 to Rs. 5,000 per month for studying in general degree courses, technical and professional courses including medical and para-medical courses at under graduate level in College/Universities of the country.
The eligible and willing applicants may apply within two months of their results announcement.

According to Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Secretary UGC, "Only online applications will be entertained, no other means and mode of application or submission of application after due date will not be considered and will be rejected."
