IIT Kharagpur to offer MBBS course from 2020

With the new Dr B C Roy Institute  of Medical Science and Research getting its final touch  after years, the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IIT-KGP)  is all set to induct first MBBS students batch from 2020-21.

According to reports, the HRD Ministry has sanctioned Rs 150 crore to the institution.

While the hospital initially have 400 beds, it will later expand to 750 beds.

"We will be collating details of the patients by video graphing and with their permission can disseminate it to a doctor abroad. So if a patient wants to seek the opinion of a doctor in the US, he/ she can easily do it," said IIT_KGP Deputy Director Prof Sriman Kumar Bhattacharyya.
