Delhi University to scrap ‘Special Chance’ provision

New Delhi

In a bid to restrict students who leave studies midway to get back to their pending exam, Delhi University has decided to scrap the ‘Special Chance’ provision.

According to reports, the Executive Council of DU pointed out that students will get an extra chance to complete their degree programme beyond prescribed time limit only in case of medical condition or financial crisis.

“The executive council has recently approved the proposal to do away with this system,” a member said.

While DU norms say that undergraduate students need to finish their degrees within six years, post graduate degrees must do it within four years from the date of enrolment.

“It is not only unprofessional but also puts undue pressure on the examination office,” added the member.
