Sports Authority of India chooses Jamia to promote sports
The Sports Authority of India (SAI) has chosen Jamia Millia Islamia as its extension centre for promotion of athletics, hockey and football.

Schools and colleges having adequate sports infrastructure and a history of producing national and international sportspersons were eligible for the program promoted by SAI, the nodal agency of the sports ministry. Jamia met all these requirements.

The scheme has been promoted with a view to promote sports especially at the junior level.

Under the program, Jamia will be conducting selection trials for athletics, hockey and football from Feb 4-6. Boys in the age between 12 to 18 years are eligible to appear in the trials.

Students outside of Jamia can also also be part of the program. The Feb 4 trials will take place at the TTI Ground, Faculty of Education, Jamia Millia Islamia.
