Taking serious view of absenteeism among students who got scholarships, the University of Rajathan on Wednesday said it was going to stop the scholarships to such students, including those belonging to reserved classes.
After a surprise visit by the varsity's vice-chancellor Dr Devswaroop to Rajasthan College found students absent, the university's administration has decided that it will soon stop scholarships to such students, including those of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST), according to its PRO.
The scholarships from different agencies were being directly deposited into the students'' bank account, and many of them were not reporting to classes in colleges affiliated to the University, the PRO said quoting the VC.
The administration will also tabulate the exact number of students getting scholarships and how much, he added.
The vice-chancellor also found three teachers absent, and these teachers Dr Rama Prasad, Mahipal Yadav and Jamila Bano have been served show cause notice, the PRO said.
