Online distance education to be launched by Burdwan University
The Burdwan University on Thursday signed an MoU with a private educational concern to launch online distance education soon.

University Vice-chancellor Smriti Kumar Sarkar said admission, registration and classes -- everything would be done online in the new system of distance education.

While the university would look after the academics, technological side would be dealt with by the Kolkata based private company.

Altogether 10 subjects in arts, commerce and science would be taught in the online distance education, Sarkar said.

Distance Education director Debkumar Panja said initially students of online distance education would come to the university once in a year to appear for the examination.
However, later on the examination too would be held online, he said.

Those engaged in other works would be able to avail this facility in their laptops, desktops or even their mobile phones, Panja said.
