Book fair in Patna on 'Maulana Abdul Kalam' anniversary:Nitish
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today said that a book fair would be organised here every year on the occasion of ''Education day'' observed on the anniversary of Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad.

Bihar started celebrating Azad''s anniversary as “siksha diwas” (education day) on November 11, Kumar said inaugurating the 19th Book fair here at Gandhi Maidan. The government urged the Centre to make education day a national event.Kumar said despite growing trend of digitisation, books have not lost their relevance.

He advised organisers to bring more international books in such festivals so that people of the state were exposed to outside world.Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi said that rapid development in the field of education in the state was driving citizens towards books.

The state government has been giving priority to education sector in annual plan with education forming 19 per cent of state''s annual budget, Modi, who is also state''s Finance minister said. Education Minister P K Shahi was present on the occasion.
