Nityanand Rai, the Minister of State for Home (MoS), informed the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday that the government had decided to fill 84,405 open positions in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) by the end of 2023.

In a written response to BJP MP Anil Agrawal, the Minister added that the examination to fill 25,271 Constable (General Duty) positions had already been held. According to information provided by the MoS, there are 84,405 job vacancies in the CAPFs, which include the Assam Rifles (9,659), Border Security Force (19,254), Central Industrial Security Force (10,918), Central Reserve Police Force (29,985), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (3,187), and Sashastra Seema Bal (11,402).

However, according to the information supplied by the MoS, the combined sanctioned strength of these forces—Assam Rifles, BSF, CISF, CRPF, ITBP, and SSB—is 10,05,779.

Rai added that the government has taken a number of actions to swiftly fill the vacancies in the CAPFs.
 

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Staff Selection Commission and those steps, according to the Minister, and one of them is for an annual recruiting process for the position of Constable (General Duty) (SSC).

According to Rai, a Nodal Force has been designated on a long-term basis for the recruitment of Constables (General Duty), Sub-Inspectors (GD) or Assistant Sub-Inspectors (Executive), and Assistant Commandants (General Duty).

He added that all Central Armed Police Forces and the Assam Rifles have been given instructions to conduct recruitment efforts for open positions in Non-General Duty cadres in a timely way.
The Minister also spoke about the Departmental Promotion Committee's (DPC) promptly holding meetings to fill openings for promotions.
