CAT 2024: The Indian Institution of Management Calcutta (IIM Calcutta) is all set to conduct the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2024 tomorrow, 24 November 2024. The CAT 2024 exam will be conducted in three shifts: the first shift will be from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., the second shift from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., and the third shift from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
The CAT 2024 exam will have three sections - verbal ability and reading comprehension (VARC), data interpretation and logical reasoning (DILR), and quantitative aptitude (QA). There will be a total of 66 questions in the CAT 2024 paper. As per CAT 2024 marking scheme, candidates will get 3 marks for each correct answer and one mark will be deducted for each incorrect response. There will be no negative marking for incorrect answers.

The candidates will require their login credentials such as registration ID and password to download the CAT 2024 admit card. Along with the CAT 2024 admit card, candidates are required to carry a valid photo ID on exam day for verification.

CAT 2024: Important Documents to Carry
- Bring two important things on CAT exam day: the CAT Admit Card and a photo ID issued by the government to prove who you are.
- Everyone must have these documents to get into the exam center.
- If you applied under the PwD quota, you need extra documents: a medical certificate showing your disability and a scribe affidavit if you use one.
- If your name changed because of marriage, divorce, or something else, bring legal papers and government-stamped proof of your name change.
- Don’t bring electronic gadgets, things that aren’t allowed, or food/drink to the exam place.
- Follow safety rules and dress codes, come early, and do what the people in charge tell you to do.
CAT 2024: Do’s
- Carry the hard copy of the CAT Admit Card with your passport-size photo affixed to it.
- Verify that your name, CAT application number, PwD status, and other details are correct on the Admit Card.
- Arrive at the test center at least one and a half hours before the test.
- Wear appropriate clothing that adheres to the test center’s dress code.
- Carry a government-issued photo ID (such as an Aadhaar card, PAN card, driver’s license, passport, or voter ID).
- Follow the instructions of the invigilators and test center staff.
- Locate your seat and complete the necessary steps to log in to the test screen.
- Verify and confirm your profile information, read the instructions, and confirm agreement to the declaration.
- Start your examination test and complete it within the allotted time.
- Return the writing pad and pen after the test.
- Exit the test lab and test center after the examination.
CAT 2024: Don’ts
- Do not carry electronic devices, prohibited items, or food/drink to the test center.
- Do not request a change of exam center/console.
- Do not waste writing pad pages.
- Do not use unethical methods to pass the exam.
- Do not attempt to cheat or disturb other candidates.
- Do not request a change of CAT test center/exam lab/console on the CAT Exam Day.
- Do not waste time.
- Do not sign the Admit Card before arriving at the test center.
- Do not attempt to enter the test center with a companion.
- Do not arrive late at the test center.
CAT 2024: Prohibited items
- Electronic Gadgets: Avoid bringing mobile phones, smartwatches, laptops, fitness bands, pagers, or any other electronic devices into the CAT examination center.
- Stationery Items: Calculators, log tables, geometry boxes, pen drives, and earphones are not allowed. However, pens and writing pads will be provided at the examination center.
- Personal Belongings: Keep away bags, wallets, food items, water bottles with designs, and any other personal belongings inside the examination hall.
- Clothing and Accessories: Candidates should not wear clothes with many pockets, full sleeves, or metallic accessories like belts and buckles. Ornaments, fancy jewelry, clothing with metallic trims, closed footwear, caps, jackets, and clothes with large pockets are also prohibited.
