Assam Heatwave School Closure: Here is what official notification says
"As per the reports received from Head of the Institutions of different schools under Kamrup Metro regarding various incidents of ill-health and fainting of students due to excessive heat and dehydration and with due approval from District Commissioner, Kamrup Metro, it has been decided that all Govt/ Provincialised/ Private schools functioning under Kamrup Metro district are to remain close from 24th to 27th September 2024 due to excessive heat and rising temperature in the district," read the official notification.
Effective immediately, the order dated 23-09-2024 (No. SSA/KAM(M)/TT/Dispatch/2013/40/1662) is revoked, and all Government, Provincialized, and Private schools in Kamrup (M) will resume normal classes starting 25th September 2024, following improved weather conditions.

Assam Heatwave School Closure: Timing change
According to media reports, the administration had earlier changed the school timings due to heatwave conditions in Kamrup Metropolitan and Cachar districts. According to the order, classes were said to start at 7:30 am. The notice pointed out that that school timings in both districts will start at 7.30 am and end before or after 12.30 pm. It was applied to all central government, state government and private schools. Following this notification, an order has been issued to close schools in Kamrup.
Meanwhile, school timings in Dibrugarh were changed from September 21 for all government and private schools. Because of the ongoing heatwave in the district, instructions are given to begin the classes early, from 8:00 AM onwards.
