Indian students participate in workshop on Ladakh
Six Indian students have participated in an outreach program by an Abu Dhabi-based Institute to spread awareness on sustainable development and alternative technologies in Ladakh region.

Young Future Energy Leaders (YEFL) members and Indian representatives from various academic institutions participated in an eight-day workshop on “Energy Access, Ethics and Development” to learn about energy systems, micro-grid design with community participation, and social entrepreneurship.

Students from Students Educational and Cultural Movement of Ladakh (SEMCOL), Jammu University, Industrial Training Institute in Leh, and Thapar University in Patiala formed the Indian delegation.

The course of the program focuses upon designing energy-efficient systems in rural and remote communities and formulating socio-development measures with a particular emphasis on Ladakhi communities.

During their workshop, the representatives also had a chance to meet Tibetian spiritual leader the Dalai Lama who appreciated their enthusiastic activities in the far northern Himalayan region.

The workshop was jointly organised by YFEL, the Dalai Lama Center for Ethics and Transformative Values at MIT and SECMOL.
