Punjab will host the 18th National Youth Festival from January 12 to 16 in Ludhiana, Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal said here on Tuesday.

More than 5,000 participants from all over the country will take part in 18 competitive events during the festival to be held at the Punjab Agricultural University, he said. Punjab Governor will grace the opening ceremony on January 12, Badal said adding Rs four crore have been earmarked by the state government for the event, Badal said.

Punjab had organised the 14th National Youth Festival in 2009.

Over 2,000 young artistes will exhibit their art in competitive events like folk dance, classical dance and musical instruments. Seminars and debates on various topics will be also be organised, the Deputy Chief Minister said.
