President Pranab Mukharjee will inaugurate the campus of the Central University of Haryana at Mahendergarh on March 1, officials said on Thursday.
The President will officially open the campus on the occasion of the university's first convocation.
President Mukherjee will be the chief guest at the university's first convocation where he would give away gold medals and degrees to the graduating students, Vice-Chancellor Maj Gen Ranjit Singh said in a statement.
It is a very glorious moment for us that the university is conducting its first convocation in which Governor of Haryana Jagannath Pahadia, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda among other dignitaries will be present, he said.
In addition to it, Mukherjee would also inaugurate an exhibition on innovation, it said.
Central University of Haryana is a Central University established under the Central Universities Act, 2009 of the Parliament.
It is one of the 15 central universities established by the Union Ministry of HRD under the 11th Five Year Plan (2007-12). The university is fully funded by the UGC.
Permanent campus of the university is situated in 488 acres of land at Jant-Pali Villages, Mahendergarh district of Haryana from where CUH is running its academic operations, according to CUH's official website.
