New Delhi

With education boards in Rajasthan, Karnataka and Punjab already announcing their results without spiking marks in the name of “moderation”, Uttar Pradesh Board, which is yet to announce the results, has said it will follow the CBSE’s decision in this regard.

Failures apart, even the Bihar Board toppers in the state are cribbing over poor marks. Science stream topper Khushboo Kumari was not happy with 86.2%. Khushboo told TOI she said worked quite hard, but was not satisfied with the marks, compared to the toppers of other boards like CBSE and ISCE.

When asked, BSEB chairman Anand Kishor said, "BSEB has never applied moderation policy, unlike CBSE where students are given grace marks because of which their percentage increases. Recently, Union HRD ministry called a meeting of all the boards and instructed to do away with moderation policy as it led to difference in marks."

"We have written a letter to the CBSE chairman requesting him to share their point of view on moderation policy else it will be difficult for our students to compete with CBSE students in this competitive era. The UP Board has deputed an officer to remain in touch with CBSE official. Whatever they give us in writing, we will work and follow accordingly," said UP Board's secretary Shail Yadav.

However, the UP Board will declare Class X and Class 12 (intermediate) results 2017 on Friday, June 9, 2017.
