KTET November 2024: The Kerala Pareeksha Bhavan, Kerala has released the notification of the Kerala Teachers Eligibility Test November 2024 (KTET November 2024). Interested candidates can visit the official website i.e. ktet.kerala.gov.in. to apply for the exam. 

The candidates may note that the application window will remain open from 11 to 20 November 2024.  The KTET, conducted twice annually, serves as a benchmark to evaluate the eligibility of candidates for teaching positions in Lower Primary, Upper Primary, and High School levels across Kerala.

The exam will be conducted on 18 and 19 January 2025 in two shifts i.e. from 10.00 am to 12.30 pm and 2.00 pm to 4.30 pm. The admit card will be issued on 8 January 2025. The KTET is divided into four categories based on the teaching level:

Category 1- Lower Primary Classes
Category 2- Upper Primary Classes
Category 3- High School Classes
Category 4- Language Teachers (Arabic, Hindi, Sanskrit, Urdu), Specialist Teachers (Art, Craft, Sports), and Physical Education Teachers


KTET 2024: Eligibility Criteria

Category 1 (Lower Primary): Candidates must have a Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary qualification (or equivalent) with at least 45% marks, along with a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education as per NCTE regulations, or a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (BElEd). Special Education diploma holders with at least 50% marks are also eligible.

Category 2 (Upper Primary): Candidates must possess a BA/BSc/BCom degree with a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education or a Trained Teachers’ Certificate (TTC) issued by the Government of Kerala. Alternatively, a BA/BSc/BCom degree with at least 45% marks and a one-year Bachelor of Education (BEd) degree is acceptable. Candidates with a 4-year BElEd degree or a combined BA/BScEd degree with 50% marks can also apply.

Category 3 (High School): The eligibility includes a BA/BSc/BCom degree with at least 45% marks and a BEd. degree in the relevant subject. Those with an MScEd degree in subjects like Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, or Zoology from NCERT-funded Regional Institutes of Education with at least 50% marks are eligible to apply. For Botany and Zoology, candidates with a Life Science degree meeting the required criteria may also apply. Reserved categories (SC/ST and differently-abled) are eligible for a 5% mark relaxation, while OBC and OEC candidates receive a 3% relaxation.

Category 4 (Language and Specialist Teachers): Candidates must meet qualifications prescribed in Chapter XXXI of the Kerala Education Act for Language Teachers (Arabic, Hindi, Sanskrit, Urdu) up to the Upper Primary level, Specialist Teachers, and Physical Education Teachers up to the High School level. SC/ST and differently-abled candidates receive a 5% relaxation in qualifying marks for this category.
