Uttar Pradesh cabinet has decided to increase its payable share to madrasa teachers under the Madrasa modernisation programme by Rs 1000 to Rs 3000 per month.

The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Monday.

This hike will benefit madrasa teachers teaching modern subjects and will cause an additional burden of Rs 15 crore to the state exchequer, an official release said.

The cabinet has also given its assent to setting up of a Film and Television Institute and the foundation stone for this project would be laid in Lucknow in December.

The cabinet also approved changing the specification of the theme park coming under the International Ramlila complex in Ayodhya making it "more modern and sophisticated".

"This complex, once completed, will boost tourism in the area and create additional job opportunities," the release said.

The cabinet also amended the income slab of the housing schemes for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) and Lower Income Group (LIG). While the annual income of EWS has been hiked to Rs 3 lakh, in the LIG category, it has been fixed between Rs 3 lakh to Rs 6 lakh.
