The request raised by Puducherry’s Chief Minister V Narayanasamy has been rejected by The Medical Council of India (MCI) for postponing the MBBS counseling dates for admission of students under management quota to three private colleges during 2017-18 academic year, stated by Kiran Bedi, Lt Governor.

Bedi also stated that the MCI clearly mentioned in the letter that the Puducherry government only had an option to follow MCI schedule.

The Centralised Admission committee (CENTAC), authorised to conduct counseling, counseling for admission of students has been completed to the first MBBS course under government quota on July 22 and 23.

The counselling under management quota was scheduled for July 24.

On July 23, the announcement was made for postponement of counselling which was scheduled for July 24.
