The Punjab government has constituted an advisory group of eminent academicians to work on a roadmap for reforms in higher education sector, an official said today.
The advisory group will provide inputs and give recommendations on various issues related to higher education sector in the state, a spokesperson of the chief minister's office said.
It has been mandated to propose a viable framework for regulation of public and private universities in the state, and has asked to submit its interim report by June 30 and final report by September 30, 2018, said the spokesperson
Sociologist Prof Dipankar Gupta, Ashoka University Vice Chancellor Pratap Bhanu Mehta, former vice-chancellor of Central University of Punjab Jai Rup Singh and former officiating chairman of University Grants Commission V S Chauhan are members of the group, the spokesperson said.
The additional chief secretary of the higher education department would be the ex-officio member convener of the group.
