The Punjab education department has appointed nearly 200 more principals in government higher secondary schools across the state aiming to uplift the existing education standards, an official said.
In December last year, the government promoted 310 lecturers as principals, the education department official said.
He said that with the appointment of nearly 200 more principals, no post of principal would remain vacant.
To bring transparency in the government working, all the promoted principals were given a fair chance for station selection, the official said.
The Punjab government had recently announced the concept of smart schools with English medium to be run from government schools. For this purpose 217 schools were shortlisted.
After bringing the concept of smart schools, to bring better qualitative education at par with private schools, the government brought changes so there would be no dearth of faculty members and principals in the all the schools, officials said.
