The Punjab School Education Board said today it will upload the new Class 11 history book on its website, after opposition parties accused PSEB of removing chapters related to the era of Sikh Gurus from Class 12 books.

"The new book of Class 11 will be uploaded on PSEB website in next 10 days and thereafter, it will be released in the printed form," a senior PSEB official said here.

Opposition parties, including the Akali Dal and the Aam Aadmi Party, have charged PSEB with deleting the history of Sikh Gurus from the history book of Class 12.

The state's Congress government has rubbished the accusations and said the chapters related to Sikh history have been moved from Class 12 to Class 11.

Yesterday, SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal dared Chief Minister Amarinder Singh to produce before the media copies of the new history book to prove his claim that chapters on Sikh history were not deleted from the Class 12 syllabus.

A row erupted after PSEB decided to publish history book for the first time and make it available to students at much cheaper rates compared to private publishers.

A PSEB official said the board has fixed the price of its history book for class 12 at Rs 91 against the average rate of Rs 450 per book at which it was sold by private publishers.

There was a demand for more than one lakh books for the history subject for both class 11 and 12, the official added.

The Akali Dal had demanded a probe into a "deep rooted conspiracy" to rob the future generations o the knowledge about the history of Sikh Gurus and Sikh warriors of Punjab.

Chief Minister Singh had criticised SAD leaders for trying to spread "misinformation" on a sensitive issue.
