Following a spate of accidents on the arterial road, the Osmania University (OU) has banned entry of all private vehicles inside its campus.

“Private vehicles not allowed in the campus,” read the statement issued on behalf of the registrar.
While the registrar further pointed out that vehicular traffic was on the rise each year causing traffic snarls, the move may impact lakhs of commuters as the OU road is part of everyone's life

The administration has already closed down five entry points which lead onto the campus. Further, the university administration is exploring the option of providing its own transport to ferry students, teaching and non-teaching staff on the campus, thereby shutting its gates for public transport too, reports Telangana Today.

Meanwhile, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has been already given a proposal for an alternative route.
The corporation is also mulling to construct a parallel link road from the varsity.
