Union HRD minister Prakash Javadekar Tuesday emphasised on the importance of modernising the syllabus as well as providing facilities like well equipped labs to boost research in the country.

Speaking at an event here, Javadekar said that in major research activities around the world, people from India are involved but still there are not enough patents being registered in the names of Indians.

He said it is priority of the Modi government to focus on research in the country which is why Prime Minister research fellowships have been introduced.

Javadekar also spoke about initiatives of his ministry like starting DTH channels which will ensure that education becomes accessible to all people of the country.
