With the Centre agreeing to grant an exemption to Tamil Nadu from the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for admissions to MBBS and BDS courses, State Health Minister C Vijayabaskar is all set to submit the Ordinance to exempt the State from NEET for 1 year on Monday.
"If the state government promulgate an ordinance asking for exception for NEET this year, the Centre is ready to agree with that demand," said Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
The decision was announced by Sitharaman at an event in Chennai, the State will pass an Ordinance specifying that the exemption is sought to help rural students to get admission in government colleges.
