New Delhi

Giving relief to medical students, the Supreme Court on Friday allowed candidates above 25 years to sit for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2017 scheduled to held on May 7.

While the last date of online application for NEET 2017 is April 5, CBSE had earlier issued a notification where it introduced age and attempt cap for the exam.

The notification pointed out that candidates appearing for NEET 2017 can attempt only thrice and the minimum age should be 25 years.

"The oversight committee felt such limitations will reduce the number of doctors in the country. The Union Health Ministry agreed and suggested recommendation to us. We have passed it," said MCI vice-president Dr CV Bhirmanandham.
