Ensuring transparency, the HRD Ministry has instructed National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) to rework accreditation process for deciding grade of educational institutes.
According to reports, the HRD Ministry will introduce a method to assess grade of higher educational institutes.
As per the new methodology, the peer team assessment of institutions will be given just 20% weightage instead of the current 100 % in deciding the grade of an institution, reports The Times of India
About National Assessment and Accreditation Council
National Assessment and Accreditation Council or NAAC is an autonomous body established by the University Grants Commission of India to assess and accredit institutions of higher education in the country. It is an outcome of the recommendations of the National Policy in Education (1986) which laid special emphasis on upholdin the quality of higher education in India.
